A Winchester Model 50 semi-auto 12 gauge made in 1956, serial 56972. The 30-inch round barrel has a 2 3/4-inch chamber and a fixed full choke. Metal is blued and the checkered walnut stock measures 14 inches to the factory buttplate. The wood has wear and handling marks but no cracks; the metal shows edge wear and spotted patina with most of the original bluing intact, and a swing mount base has been added to the receiver. Overall a good, solid gun with an excellent bore.
For a New Jersey owner this is a vintage field gun with a tight full choke and a long barrel, the sort of setup that still works for shots at distance. It will chamber 2 3/4-inch slugs or buckshot for the state's deer seasons as long as it is limited to three shells, though many buyers will want it for what it is: a seventy-year-old Winchester autoloader with its original bluing largely in place.
