Smith & Wesson built this 908S in 2005, a third-generation alloy-frame 9mm with a 3.5-inch barrel and a manual safety, serial VJL8379. It is a compact carry-sized pistol described as very good overall with a very good bore, and it comes with its case and a second magazine.

For New Jersey buyers the 908S makes sense as a home and range 9mm that is easy to store and easy to shoot. The alloy frame keeps weight down, the short barrel keeps it compact, and the manual safety suits owners who want a positive lever to check before putting the gun away. With a case and spare magazine already in the box, nothing needs to be added before your first range trip, and the 3.5-inch barrel fits a bedside drawer or a small safe without trouble.
