A Remington New Model revolver in .44 caliber from the early 1860s, serial 155636, with an 8-inch barrel. It is a martially marked example: small inspector's marks appear throughout the gun, and the left grip carries a sharp cartouche. Roughly half of the original blue finish survives, and the grips are very good. It is offered on consignment.
This revolver belongs with a New Jersey collector of 1860s martial arms rather than anyone shopping for carry or home defense. What matters here is the martial provenance: inspector's marks, a legible cartouche and half the blue remaining on a revolver that is more than 160 years old. Pieces with marks this clear are the ones collectors look for, and the supplier rates it very fine. It is a used consignment piece, so examine the marks and the finish yourself at the dealer.
The revolver ships to a New Jersey FFL dealer, where you show your permit and finish the paperwork before taking it home.
