Beretta's A400 Xtreme Plus with the Kick-Off recoil system is a semiautomatic field shotgun in 12 gauge. The 28-inch barrel takes an extended removable choke and is chambered for 2 3/4, 3 and 3 1/2-inch shells, so it covers light target loads through heavy magnum rounds. A fiber-optic front sight sits at the muzzle, the whole gun wears Optifade Marsh camouflage, and the stock measures 14.75 inches length of pull. The photo is a stock image.

New Jersey's deer regulations allow shotguns from 20 to 10 gauge loaded with slugs or buckshot, and a 12-gauge semiautomatic is squarely inside that rule, provided it is limited so the gun holds no more than three shells. That makes this one shotgun for the December six-day firearm season and the permit shotgun seasons that run into February in the High-set zones of the northwest, and the marsh pattern and Kick-Off stock earn their keep on wet winter days.
