The Super Black Eagle 3 in 20 gauge is Benelli's semiautomatic waterfowl gun scaled down from the 12. It has a 28-inch vent-rib Advanced Impact barrel with an extended removable choke, chambered for 2 3/4 and 3-inch shells, and a fiber-optic front sight. Metal is finished in gray Cerakote under the BE.S.T. name, the stock and forend are in Optifade Timber camouflage, and length of pull is 14.5 inches. Stock photo shown.

Twenty gauge is the smallest gauge New Jersey allows for deer, so with slugs or buckshot this gun fits the state's six-day firearm season in December and the permit shotgun seasons that run from late November into February in the High-set zones, as long as it holds no more than three shells. A 20 gauge recoils less than a 12 and carries well on long walks through the northwest hills, and the Timber pattern suits a wet blind as readily as the deer woods.
