Description
The FRT-15L3 is a three-position trigger for AR-15 platforms, offering Safe, Semi-Automatic, and Forced Reset Trigger (FRT) functions in a single drop-in unit. It’s designed for shooters who want a versatile, high-performance trigger for training, competition, or recreational use. We’ve stocked this since spring 2025, and it’s one of our most frequently re-ordered items by repeat customers.
Why This One?
- Three-Position Versatility: Switch between Safe, a crisp semi-auto pull, and the unique FRT function for rapid, controlled fire based on trigger finger pressure.
- Drop-In Simplicity: Installs like any standard cassette-style trigger. No gunsmithing required for most AR-15 lowers.
- Durable Construction: Built with hardened steel and robust springs designed for the specific demands of the FRT mechanism.
- Consistent Reset: The forced reset provides a tactile, positive reset to the wall every time, promoting faster follow-up shots and consistent technique.
- Staff-Recommended Break-In: Our team suggests firing approximately 50 rounds to smooth out the action and ensure reliable function before any serious use.

Q & A
Is this a binary or burst trigger?
No. The FRT-15L3 is a forced reset trigger. It fires one round per trigger pull in semi-automatic mode. In FRT mode, it fires one round, then the trigger is mechanically forced forward to the reset point. The shooter must release and pull again to fire the next round. It is not a binary trigger (which fires on pull and release).
Will this work in my pistol-caliber AR (9mm, .45 ACP)?
It is designed for direct impingement and piston AR-15s in rifle calibers. Function in blowback-operated pistol-caliber carbines can be inconsistent due to different bolt carrier group weights and velocities. We do not recommend it for those platforms without extensive testing.
What’s the purpose of the 50-round break-in?
Like many precision mechanical devices, the internal surfaces and springs benefit from initial cycling under live fire. This break-in period helps ensure smooth, reliable operation of the FRT mechanism by allowing components to seat properly. It’s a simple step for long-term reliability.
