Description
The Chiappa Rhino 60DS in 10mm Auto is a purpose-built revolver for the shooter who demands a modern, high-performance wheelgun. Its unique low-bore axis design drastically reduces muzzle flip, making full-power 10mm loads more manageable than in any conventional revolver. Since we started stocking it in spring 2025, it has consistently been one of our top-selling revolvers for hunters and backcountry shooters who appreciate its blend of power and control.
Why This One?
- Radical Low-Bore Design: The barrel aligns with the bottom cylinder chamber, not the top. This places the bore axis in line with your hand, directing recoil straight back into the arm instead of up and over. The difference in control, especially with 10mm, is immediate and significant.
- Built for 10mm Auto: Chambered for the potent 10mm cartridge, it offers serious power for hunting or defense. It handles factory loads from mild to full-power, giving you a wide range of options.
- 6-Inch Barrel for Ballistics: The 6-inch barrel length allows the 10mm round to reach its full velocity potential, maximizing energy and improving sight radius for precise shot placement.
- Ergonomic & Ambidextrous: Features an ergonomic grip and fully ambidextrous cylinder release. The double-action/single-action trigger is smooth and consistent, contributing to its shootability.
- Distinctive & Reliable: Beyond its futuristic look, the Rhino uses a rotating firing pin system and a transfer bar safety. It’s a robust, reliable design that stands apart from traditional revolvers.

Q & A
Does it shoot .40 S&W?
No. This revolver is chambered specifically for 10mm Auto. While 10mm and .40 S&W share a bullet diameter, their case lengths and pressures differ. Firing .40 S&W in a 10mm chamber is unsafe and not recommended.
Is the action very stiff?
The Rhino has a firm, positive double-action pull out of the box, which smooths with use. We had one customer return it, citing it was ‘too tight.’ It turned out he was using an aftermarket frame that wasn’t to spec. On the factory OEM frame, the action is correct and functions perfectly.
What’s the main advantage of the low barrel?
Recoil management. By channeling force rearward instead of upward, muzzle rise is minimized. This allows for faster, more accurate follow-up shots, a critical advantage when shooting a powerful cartridge like the 10mm.
