Is the GLOCK 19X considered a compact or full-size pistol?
It’s a hybrid. It uses the full-size GLOCK 17 frame for the grip and the compact GLOCK 19 slide assembly. This gives you the high-capacity, controllable grip of a full-size gun with the slightly shorter, faster-handling slide of a compact.
Does it have the Gen5 features like the flared magwell and ambidextrous slide stop?
Yes. The 19X is built on the Gen5 platform. It features the flared magwell for faster reloads, an ambidextrous slide stop lever, and the GLOCK Marksman Barrel (GMB) for improved accuracy. It does not have a front slide serrations.
What is the main advantage of the crossover design?
The primary advantage is shootability. The longer, full-size grip allows for a more secure, high-hand hold and accommodates all fingers comfortably, which improves control and recoil management. The shorter slide reduces muzzle flip and can speed up target transitions compared to a full-length slide.
