Afghan Jezail flintlock musket .65 caliber

An Afghan jezail flintlock in .65 caliber, with no serial number and dated by the seller to the middle 1800s. The 39-inch octagonal barrel shows a faint Damascus pattern under a grey patina. Two large brass wrappings under the barrel are held by four bands. The lock plate carries the East India Company trade logo ahead of the hammer and the date 1815 stamped behind it. The curved, hooked stock has been lightly cleaned at some point and has a crack ahead of the lock plate, while the brass decorations on the butt keep an aged patina.

The action functions correctly. This is a collector's and display piece, a regional flintlock built around a dated trade-company lock, and it should be judged on the condition facts listed rather than as a working firearm. For a New Jersey collector of flintlock arms it offers the hallmark features of the type: long octagonal barrel, brass-bound stock and the curved butt.
